There has never been a better time to be a sci-fi movie enthusiast, particularly if you have a Netflix subscription. Even if new streaming services are launched on a daily basis, the one with the large red “N” logo continues to be a brilliant source of genre glory.

Netflix has a movie for everyone, whether you enjoy mystery, horror, romance, or anything else. Moreover, there are more than 100 sci-fi movies and web series available on Netflix today.

Black Mirror – Series

A personal favorite of many viewers, the series shows the harsh reality of our technological world and what we can face in the future with the growing and advancing technology every day. It might be just a TV series, but it will definitely blow your mind and make you question reality.

One could argue that Black Mirror presents a pessimistic perspective on the never-ending pursuit of technology and scientific progress. Therefore, most episodes have unhappy endings. But in stories like “San Junipero,” when characters carefully evaluate the dangers of the technology they use, they experience happy endings. Being an anthology series, it can be watched in any order.

Interstellar – Movie

As one says, Christopher Nolan never disappoints, he really knows what he is doing to his audience. Interstellar, a 2014 movie blows your mind with its brilliant storyline, plots, and suspense during and after the movie.

A farmer and ex-NASA pilot Joseph Cooper is asked to lead a team of researchers in a spacecraft to discover a new planet for humans after earth becomes uninhabitable. During the wormhole travel of the astronauts in the hope of finding new planet, the difficulties they go through and the random plots in the movie will surprise you because it is definitely a masterpiece by Nolan. 

Altered Carbon – Series

If you have the money, Altered Carbon shows that it can make death impermanent. The events of Altered Carbon take place more than 300 years in the future and are based on Richard K. Morgan’s book of the same name. Altered Carbon has the remarkable capacity to transfer main characters without really switching main characters thanks to the technology to switch consciousnesses into various bodies.

Kovacs is represented by no less than six different actors, including Anthony Mackie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Basically, it is a thrilling peek into a world without genuine death which is fast-paced, has a fantastic plot, and stunning visuals.

Bird Box – Movie

In the movie, one must survive in a surreal world where simply catching a glimpse of the enigmatic creatures who have taken over the Earth leads one to commit suicide. Nobody is aware of the origins of the entities, the nature of their power, or how to deal with them. The surviving must thus acquire the ability to see while blindfolded.

Susanne Bier, the director, draws spooky dread from the events while also offering a gloomy allegory for parenting. Bullock gives a strong performance in the movie, along with the other characters. Here we can see the importance of survival and the fear of death that every person has in them and what can they do in order to survive.

Alice in Borderland – Series

This series is a gamer’s heaven. Gamer Arisu and his friends are forced to participate in hazardous games in order to survive when they find themselves in a bizarre, empty version of Tokyo in which one must play a game and win it in order to extend their visas because the expiration of the visa will result in death.

So, here we can see the difference between playing games for fun and playing games for survival. Directed by Shinsuke Sato, this Japanese Sci-Fi series is mind-blowing and fun at the same time.
